DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Planning and Technical Management

  • Assess agricultural, horticultural, nursery, livestock, and other property resources.
  • Develop and implement agriculture, horticulture, and livestock plans, procedures, and schedules.
  • Recommend appropriate crops, plants, livestock activities, and farm products based on resources, cost, and market demand.
  • Apply sustainable and cost-efficient agricultural practices.
  • Coordinate with Management, farmers, suppliers, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

B. Farm and Nursery Operations

  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly work instructions to farmers and assigned personnel.
  • Supervise farming, nursery, ornamental plant, livestock, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections and address operational issues.
  • Ensure proper quality, handling, storage, and presentation of agricultural products.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized farm, nursery, livestock, and storage areas.

C. Monitoring and Resource Management

  • Maintain accurate records of production, livestock, inventory, materials, labor, losses, and saleable products.
  • Prepare operational reports, calendars, findings, and recommendations.
  • Monitor agricultural supplies, equipment, and resource utilization.
  • Identify and address wastage, variances, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Prepare technical specifications, quantity requirements, cost estimates, and supplier evaluations.

D. Product Development, Marketing and Sales

  • Develop and recommend farm-derived products for sale based on market demand and production capacity.
  • Establish product specifications, quality standards, packaging, pricing inputs, and release schedules.
  • Conduct product and production trials and monitor results.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing in promoting farm products and providing technical information.
  • Coordinate product preparation, harvesting, grading, packaging, and delivery.
  • Monitor customer feedback, sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities.
  • Provide technical support for plant orders, landscaping requirements, workshops, and related initiatives.

E. Research and Team Development

  • Stay updated on agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and sustainability practices.
  • Coordinate with relevant government agencies, suppliers, associations, universities, and training institutions.
  • Identify training, certification, technical assistance, and partnership opportunities.
  • Train farmers and team members on approved agricultural procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Crop Science, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Management, or a related field.

Experience/Training

  • Preferably 2 years of relevant experience in farming, nursery management, horticulture, livestock, or agribusiness.
  • Knowledge of crop production, propagation, soil management, pest control, harvesting, and animal care.
  • Good Agricultural Practices training/certification is preferred.
  • Experience in organic farming, vermiculture, composting, greenhouse operations, landscaping, or plant retail is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar digital tools.
  • Able to prepare work plans, inventories, cost comparisons, and reports.
  • Willing to perform hands-on fieldwork.
  • Preferably with NCII Organic Farming TESDA Certification.
